Samantha in New York City, 2021

Samantha Murphy grew up in Chicago, Illinois and always knew she was born to create. Her passion for art and self-expression only grew as she got older, and it manifested in a love for fashion and all things adornment.

It wasn’t until her first Art Metals class at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that she realized her passion had the potential to become a career.

During her college years, Samantha majored in metalsmithing and jewelry design and minored in entrepreneurial business. She worked part-time as an apprentice goldsmith at a local custom jewelry store, and eventually began her career there upon graduation. After working in the jewelry world for several years, studying under a master goldsmith, and learning the ins and outs of the industry, she set out to pursue her dream- and Requiem was born.

Samantha knew early on that she wanted her line to bring education and transparency to the fine jewelry industry. She witnessed first-hand how often the jewelry consumer is taken advantage of, and she made it her mission to create an educational, honest, and personal experience for her clients. With the goal of providing the customer with as much information as possible, Samantha decided to further her knowledge in her field with an education from the Gemological Institute of America. After receiving a scholarship to do just that, she began studying to become a GIA Graduate Gemologist while building her brand.

Today, Requiem offers a highly individualized and informational custom experience for bridal jewelry, and a collection of “fine-meets-fashion” non-bridal jewelry. Samantha designs based on her inspirations and ambitions and creates unique pieces to be enjoyed for a lifetime and beyond.
